Dorothy Shumaker Gunn

Dorothy Shumaker Gunn

Henry County Hospital made a lasting impression on the late Dorothy Shumaker Gunn. The 1947 graduate of Napoleon High School only visited the hospital twice during her 82 years of life, but the care she received in the emergency room in 2000 and 2005 inspired her to make a generous donation to Henry County Hospital upon her passing.

Mrs. Shumaker Gunn remembered Henry County Hospital through a planned gift in her last will and testament. Described as an organized and thoughtful person, she would not have made the donation unless she felt strongly about the service Henry County Hospital provides to patients and their families.

A native of Henry County, Mrs. Shumaker Gunn's husband, Ronald Gunn, owned a Marathon service station on Scott Street in Napoleon. Shumaker Gunn passed away on Aug. 29, 2008, in San Antonio, Texas, but her memory will live on through the benefits her generosity will help provide to patients of Henry County Hospital.
