Loyalty in Love and Life

Loyalty in Love and Life

Jack and Marilyn Krueger have been loyal partners in marriage for 55 years; their devotion extends beyond the home to the worthwhile community causes they support. The Kruegers, of Liberty Center, are longtime supporters of the Henry County Hospital & the Henry County Hospital Foundation and demonstrate the impact a pair of loyal volunteers can have in the community. "Jack and Marilyn Krueger are two people who give of their time, talent and treasure," said Connie Panning, director of development for the Henry County Hospital Foundation. "People like Jack and Marilyn are important because they are loyal to Henry County Hospital & the Foundation and they support our mission. They talk the talk and walk the walk and they have fun doing it."

Both Henry County natives, the Kruegers raised two boys, Joe and Phil, while operating the family business, Krueger Insurance, in Liberty Center. The couple has one grandson, Matthew, 10. Jack is active in the Liberty Center School District, serving as the scorekeeper for high school basketball for 50 years and the public address announcer for football games. Marilyn participates in the Ohio State University Extension master gardener program.

"After we retired, I always enjoyed digging in the dirt and growing plants and flowers," Marilyn said. "I got involved after the OSU Extension launched the master gardener program, and I have enjoyed it ever since."

The Kruegers have been involved with Henry County Hospital for nearly 20 years, with Marilyn serving on the operating board and later the foundation board. Jack has served as a member of the foundation's capital campaign steering committee and has supported his wife in her efforts to help the foundation raise funds for equipment like a digital mammography machine and a protective canopy at the emergency care services entrance. "Henry County Hospital is a very important facility to have here. The foundation governance structure ensures that the money raised stays in Henry County," Marilyn said.

Each year, Henry County Hospital Foundation launches an annual campaign in an effort to raise funds to support the hospital endowment and provide for capital improvements. Donors can support the foundation in a variety of ways, including by following the Krueger's example and making a planned gift through a will or trust.

"It's a wonderful thing to be able to leave a gift for a facility you are proud of," Marilyn said, explaining that she and Jack worked with Panning to set up a customized financial plan. "We live in a normal house and do normal things. You don't have to be wealthy to make a planned gift."

The Kruegers emphasize that loyalty equates to discovering endeavors that are personally fulfilling and supporting them in a consistent manner. "There are so many good causes in Henry County that we can become involved in," Jack said. "It doesn't have to be the hospital, the United Way or the Red Cross, but it's important to find a cause that you find important."

There are a variety of avenues individuals can consider when evaluating the possibility of making a planned gift to Henry County Hospital Foundation. The Kruegers emphasized that the foundation is flexible and will provide professional assistance with a donation plan.

"Connie Panning has the experience to sit down with you and find out what option will work best with your situation," Jack said. "She is very professional and will make it easy."
